NEW AND USED RAMMERS: MAIN FEATURES AND VARIETIES
A rammer is a kind of hand-operated road-building construction equipment, which is used for ramming and compaction of soil and pavement on small areas.
Depending on the model, rammers can be equipped with electric, diesel or petrol engines, and the impact force is transmitted to the platform with the use of crank-and-rod piston mechanism. The control of the unit (just like in the case of tamper plate, which is similar to it) is carried out by one or (if necessary) by two operators with special handles. Besides hand-operated modifications, there are also ramming shoes which have the form of attachable implements and are mounted on, for example, mini-excavators.
The rammers are widely used in various areas of construction for compacting soil in trenches for laying pipes and cables, compacting soil and coating material when assembling pillars, poles, piles, and the like. Given the high maneuverability and small dimensions (length of the ramming platform in most cases does not exceed 25-30 cm), this equipment is ideal for work on small lots where the space is strictly limited. It should be separately emphasized that, despite their size, the rammers have extremely high productivity at work.
