USED RECYCLERS: FUNCTIONALITY AND TYPES
A recycler is a specific kind of road-building construction equipment intended for carrying out a range of tasks associated with complete reconstruction of the pavement.
The very name of this type of equipment reflects its functional features. The term comes from the English word «to recycle», which refers to reprocessing, reusing. The main task of the recyclers is cold removal and grinding of pavement layer (which makes them similar to cold milling machines), mixing the resulting material with binders and necessary additives, as well as further using it for paving. Thus, one can surely say that, technically, the recycler is a kind of combination of a cold milling machine, a soil-mixing machine, and an asphalt paver as a single system.
Special mechanisms allow rather precisely setting and maintaining the necessary depth of milling of the pavement, and the working width of most recyclers can be up to three meters (although there are also models that can effectively handle a bandwidth of up to 4.2 m).
It should also be noted that on the market, there are both unitized (mounted and towed) and self-propelled modifications of these machines.
